Schwinn Treadmills Reviewed

Schwinn treadmills are known for having decent drive systems but below average quality. They tried to lessen their production cost in order to compete with imported treadmills.

As a result, the quality of their machines suffered.

Is This The Brand For You?

Schwinn Treadmills

If you love Trimline treadmills, then there’s a possibility that you’ll also like machines from Schwinn. Both brands are produced by the same manufacturer so there are some similarities. However, I still think you’ll get better value from the Trimline brand.

About Schwinn…

As I’ve mentioned above, Schwinn, just like Trimline, is also manufactured by DF Hebb and owned by the Nautilus Health and Fitness Group. Nautilus is next only to Icon to being the largest seller of fitness equipment in the world.

What to Expect

If you have a Schwinn unit, expect it to have respectable power. If you’re a recreational runner, then your Schwinn can easily provide you with the intensity you need. But, if you’re a hardcore runner, you might want to shop for another brand. I don’t think the drive motor being offered by this brand would be powerful enough for you.

Price Range

Schwinn treadmills belong in the very competitive mid-priced range category. Most of these machines are priced from as low as $999 to as high a $2,000.

Weakness

Lately, in an effort to be more competitive with their prices, Schwinn decided to move some of its production overseas. However, this move resulted in below average quality for their machines which is currently one of their biggest weaknesses.

Would I Recommend It?

I don’t recommend Schwinn treadmills. I believe that there are other brands out there that can give you better quality for the same prices. If you really want a mid-priced treadmill, you’d be better off buying from Smooth or Sole. Both brands provide excellent value for your money. (See also our best treadmill page)

Still Want to Buy?

If even after this review you would still want to buy a Schwinn treadmill, I recommend you buy directly from the company through Wal-Mart or from Amazon. They offer some of the better deals on the net.
