BUYER BEWARE! NORDIC TRACK 1500 COMMERCIAL

I bought the NordicTrack 1500 Commercial from Costco because it had a 3.0 CHP motor and 350 user weight capacity. 3 DAYS LATER, and 6 CALLS FOR REPAIR, THE TREADMILL WAS RETURNED with the deck jammed at 12% incline, the motor working intermittently, and the speed not working. I NEVER EVEN RAN ON IT. I ONLY WALKED THE WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAM twice. The N.T. 1500 is a bohemeth of a machine boasting a huge solid frame. I am a 30 year old mechancial engineer and my father, who helped me put it together, is a 60 year old manufacturing engineer. Everytime we called ICON fitness cutomer service they made us run a diagnostic that made it WORSE. Then they told me there was a minimal trip charge for service!!! I AM CONVINCED THAT IS THE WORST TREADMILL EVER PRODUCED.

Disagree- a great treadmill
by: Anonymous

I have had this treadmill for almost 2 years- bought at Costco and LOVE IT. It is very comparable to the gym treadmills. I am a marathon runner, and put lots of miles on the treadmill. My husband and I both use this on a regular basis and have had no problems whatsoever. I would recommend it to anyone. I did lots of research before buying it and everything I read was very positive. It has an excellent warranty also- which tells me that the manufacturer knew it was a good product. Overall I am very satisfied with it and glad I purchased it. It was a great buy for the money- and seems very well made.

Horrible treadmill
by: Anonymous

I bought one twenty days ago. It only worked once for me. The console does not work anymore. I waited eight days to receive a wrong part. Then waited another eight days to receive broken parts. I will call again. What will happen this time? If only it wasn't so heavy, I could have returned it already.

Improper Assembly causes many of the problems
by: Treadmill Tech

I am a technician who repairs treadmills of all brands in the industry.

A common issue with this treadmill is improper assembly. when assembling the unit, it is very easy to crush the data cable that runs inside the right side pedestal arm without even knowing it.

I just serviced one of these the other day and that was exactly the problem - replaced the data cable and it was working perfectly afterward.

This particular problem is perplexing to troubleshoot because power often still runs to the control panel, but a wire or 2 may be shorting out against the frame at random times, causing all sorts of wierd issues - no speed, no belt movement, incline changing randomly...etc.

many of the unhappy owners of this treadmill are complaining about these types of issues - very likely the data cable. Additionally, the data cable is very difficult to replace unless you know the right way - have a technician do it on warranty.

I agree with some of the posters here - you should not have to pay for service on warranty. Unfortunately icon does not pay enough for technicians to travel, so I will tell people there is a mileage charge if they are outside my city. I can't work for free, right?

Before you buy: make sure there is a local servicer available to handle any repair issues!!

Awesome machine
by: Don

I bought this machine 3 weeks ago at Costco. I love it, and it is one of the most quiet treadmill I have used. Some people may have bad experience with NT15000 because the manufacturing process may not be perfect and some may bet a lemon here or there. Costco return policy is awesome, just exchange for another one. Costco has a 5 years return policy. There is no need to bother with customer service. I give it a 5 stars.

Agree/Disagree
by: Anonymous

I bought this at Costco because of the CHP Motor.
It took me an hour to get this from my pick-up to my Den..whew. I set it up really quick (impressed with myself) WOW! Very smooth running
machine, except for a diesel like odor that became worse the longer I ran on it..made a few calls that gave me some weird impressions. They said they had heard of this but it should disapate in a couple of days. OK.
After 3 months my home smelled like the engine room of a tugboat so did my clothes.
I did return it to Costco with NO problem.
I sure do miss it, maybe i'll take my chances and get another one....Minus the eau'de Tugboat!

GOOD MACHINE
by: Anonymous

I absolutely disagree with the comment about this machine. I have this machine and it works fine. you have to read the directions and you will find that you have to plug it in with a surge protector which will protect the system from getting quirky. I tried to use an extension cord and the computer went crazy and caused the belt to do random speeds. After I read the instructions, I moved my treadmill to an outlet designed for the equipment and it works perfectly fine!

Good but makes a loud squealing sound
by: Anonymous

This treadmill was great for the first 2 weeks of use. I use it everyday for an hour (speed walking, running and incline)after the first 2 weeks, it started to make this really loud squealing sound no matter what speed or incline it was on. This has gone on for about 2.5 weeks now, I tried different things to repair it, but no luck. Hopefully I will come across something because there is no way I can bring it back to Costco haha- it weighs a TON!

I disagree
by: Anonymous

I purchased this treadmill as well and I love it. It has worked great and it is SOLID. Yes, assembly is a bit difficult but the machine works fantastic and operates quietly. Another huge benefit is the audio jack plays from any type of player with a headphone jack. This guy must have got a bad treadmill but it does say that they charge a travel fee right on the paperwork. If he didn't want to pay it he could have returned it or exchanged it??

less than one year, It stops running out of blue. Their Customer Service refused warranty service only because we missed 2 days after warranty expiration date. I don't recommend this brand to anybody. It's more expensive to repair and it breaks easily.

Nordic Trac Commercial 1750

by Renee
(Indiana)

Really Poor Customer Service. Unit was delivered Dec 28 2011 as a Xmas Gift. I had purchased delivery with assembly. The unit was delivered damaged and cracked. A replacement came on January 31, 2011 and will not turn on. Service was sent out and I am being told it will take 2 months for the part (main computer). To have purchased a Xmas gift in December and not expect a working treadmill unit April is poor customer service. Nordic Trac now tells me they will pick-up the unit and refund the purchase but they have to send a box first which will be 2 weeks and 2 weeks until someone will disassemble after that. So now for another month I have a treadmill in my home that doesn't work and in the way? BEWARE of ICONFITNESS.

NORDIC TRAC MODEL 2155

by nick
(ohio)

I bought this treadmill for my wife who is starting a workout program. She is a walker and after only 6 days of 20 min. workouts the motor is squealing like a stuck pig. She loves the ifit chip we bought for it. But to buy another ifit-compatible treadmill would be foolish,as the same company makes pro-form,nordictrac, reebok, and some other brand i cant recall. Thank god we bought it at sears, and we can return it up to 90 days. We bought the 2yr. warranty from sears,WORTHLESS,as it only kicks in after the 1yr. nordictrac warranty expires. Nordictrac says the motor is on back order..at least a month for a replacement. Doesnt fit in with their quality sales pitch now does it?Bottom line..A lot of junk out there. Pay attention to warranty terms..look at roller size. 2.75 inches or larger, motor at least 3hp. Consumer Guide is my new source for info.!NORDIC-TRAC used to be a great name for good equipment, the unit we have says it was made in China..enough said..junk for big bucks.

Horrible TS Terrain Simulator
by: Oscar

On Jan.2010,I purchased the Nordic Track All Terrain
Simulator, and a 3 year warranty ($300.00). After 3 motor replacement, speed control unit and the display/control unit. A total of six attempts to fix it by Nordic Track's private repair contractor
that never shows up when I was informed by Nordic Track Solutions in Utha,I was informed that they would have to have their field repairman to see it one more time. Now this is ten months after I purchased the unit and have since paid it off.
$2300.00. I complained to Sears Customer Solutions
Dept. in Texas and I live in California,I was informed that the unit had to be seen by a repairman before they could take action. Mind you I had day by day documentation and receipts given to me by the six different repair companies. By this time I had but sixty miles registered on the machine.
Well make a long story, I guess longer, the repair service made an appointment they guy never showed
up this was on 11/22/10. On 11/25/10,I went and had a short but good talk withe Sears Sporting Goods Dept. Mgr and he finally decided to return my money,
Hold on there partners the plot continues, I agreed to buy another, you guessed it,Nordic Track Treadmill. Today 12/9/10,Sears delivered my new unit and agreed to install it for,the installer reported the machine was faulty and taken it back to Sears. Nordic Track claims that all their units are made in the good old USA yet all parts are marked made in China. Well Michael what do you
think of your indorced threadmill?

Nordic Track C2400

by Chris
(Massachusetts)

What a useless machine. I originally bought an older model (C2100?) that broke so many times that they replaced it with the C2400...which has had the same abysmal results. I've broken the walking deck FIVE times on this machine so far in the less than two years that I've owned it. I've also broken several tension belts and right now the motor is broken as it dismounted at FULL RUNNING SPEED and stopped the machine dead in it's tracks.

The average repair time is 4-6 weeks with the time it takes for them to send out a tech, get the parts ordered, ship them to my home and then reschedule the tech to come out and replace them.

The only reason I've kept the machine so long is that they don't offer any sort of money back option, just an allowance towards another one of their terrible products.

This treadmill is obviously designed for the mall walker set and not anyone who might seriously run on it. I run roughly 4 days a week and at my peak average 40 miles in a week. I'm a 6' tall 185lb. male, not someone who should test the 300lb. max user weight. This machine is just terrible and I hope that anyone considering one will save yourself the time, money and blood pressure raising aggravation that dealing with this terrible company causes.

If anything good comes out of this massive economic downturn I sincerely hope that it involves NordicTrack going belly up. Worst machine EVER.

My C2400 is fine
by: Stresstic

I bought a used Nordic Track from a thrift shop.

It had 175 miles on it at time of purchase. Since then I have racked up an additional 80 miles. The three speed fan works fine, the MP3 music player is outstanding and the ten automatic programs are exceptional ( although I am only at level two).

A friend of mine ruined my last treadmill simply because he was too heavy and he could not keep up with the the machines settings.

So, as I watched him tire at his 3 MPH setting, instead of slowing the speed and lowering the incline to rest his body he trudged on at about 2 MPH putting a strain on the motor and the belt (not to mention my patience) I watched the belt wear away from the Nordic Track and onto my floor until finally the belt broke.

I would recommend this product to any person who is prudent in his or her judgment and does not expect to run his horse without rest and water.

NordicTrack any model

(Indiana, USA)

I purchased a treadmill from NordicTrack in January of 07. Before the year reached November, I had called it in for repairs 8 times. At that point I demanded that they repalce the machine. The people at NT refused to give me a different machine. In fact I was hung up on. I spent the next 3 hours on the phone complaining to anyone at NT that I could get on the phone. Finally I got to someone who would do something. This person said she would look into the problems I was having and make sure my treadmill was replaced with a treadmill which would stand up to my run. After waiting about a week I finally heard from NT. They were going to replace my treadmill. However, no one had done anything to find me a better model. I was given a new machine, but it was basicly the same model.

It's now March of 08 and I have already called in my "new" machine 2 times.

In the last year the treadmill has had several belts go out, the deck has broken 2 times, multiple undiagnosed squeeling noises, a ripped running belt, and a console which stopped working...

My advice is stay as far away from NordicTrack as you possibly can.

Nordic Track C2500

by Keith
(England)

I placed a deposit on a Nordic Track C2500 from a company called Fitness-Superstore on the 6th Jan 2011 and was told to expect delivery in about 10 days. Two weeks later I stil hadn't taken delivery.Fitness-Superstore made it up to me by giving me some free ifit cards for when the C2500 came. When it did arrive and after 3 hours assembling it,not helped by bad Chinese machining the incline motor failed to work.I returned to F-S and was put in touch with Nordic Track who after many exchanges of e-mails and photos of incline motors told me there wouldn't be a replacement motor until April. They did offer a so called higher spec Nordic Track T9.7 at the same price, which I took delivery of,and spent another 3 hours assembling. This model is in no way an upgrade,it's not as stable as the C2500,has no fan, has fewer workout programmes and didn't take the ifit cards given to me as compensation for delayed delivery. After complaining to F-S about this I had to dismantle the T9.7 so that I could take delivery of another C2500,which I discovered on opening the box was broken.Another call to F-S to collect the broken tredmill so that I can get my deposit back and deal with an entirely different company,or take to press-ups to keep fit. It's April 25th and as yet no deposit and no treadmill,it's worth noting that most stuff these days seems to be produced in China which does appear to throw up quality issues.I certainly can't recall of anything of quality coming out of China, but manufacturers just love that cheap labour and high pofit, time for change me thinks.

I bought this treadmill brand new from Sears, and only I use it half an hour a day. After One year, the console buttons stopped working. I called Nordictrack service, they want me to buy new console for $550. This is quite expensive. A good brand of treadmill should last if not a life time a few years. My advie to you guys,
stay away from NordicTreack, they build trash.

This Machine Is JUNK! And Nordic Track customer service rates the same. I bought this treadmill and it lasted about 6 months when it quit working. I called Nordic Track and they sent me a new control panel that I had to install myself. The thing worked fine again for awhile and now it quit working properly again. It acts as if the thing heats up during a 20 minute workout and quits until it cools down before you can get it to work again. Anyway, I called them again and they said it is out of warranty and it will cost me over $600 to repair this rarely used Peice of Garbage. And Nordic Track knows there are problems with there products but are doing nothing to make it right. They will never get my business again.

Nordic Track Commercial 2150

Bought a high end unit a year ago. It has never worked for more than a month. Replaced parts include the motor, fan and several tablets. Absolute garbage.

Its an obvious lemon but they won't replace it with a new one and won't explain what the replacement criteria is. Utah office says they have absolutely nothing to do with replacing lemon units except following up, without judging, the technician's decision to replace it.

Technician's office says they have absoultely nothing to do with replacing units and don't know what Utah is talking about. Utah says they don't know what the technicians offices are talking about. Both claim the other office is lieing to me. What a bunch of losers!

Lemon laws don't apply to them. Worse exercise machine I ever bought and the worst customer disservice ever. Won't let me speak to the manager. This is a classic cnbc documentary customer disservice scamming.

If you are stuck with one of these nordic track scams contact government authorities, ombudsmen, cnbc, Ralph Nader, consumer advocacy, media, etc. Homer Simpson used his treadmill to watch tv while sitting on a lawn chair. Thats all its good for.

In the end if you want to use it you'll have to find a cheap handy man to fix it yourself, if thats possible. Start by throwing the defective useless android tablet away and replace it with manual switches, like controls in the old star trek movies.Try using an exercise app to track your exercises, a wrist pedometer, etc and hope nothing else breaks down.

Most of all, get the word out that Nordic Track SUCKS!

This was supposed to be a $1700 treadmill, I was able to get it for $900. In 2 years, it broke down twice. The first time, they sent me a new one. The second time they told me that they no longer made that model. Now I have a Proform which I hope will perform better over time ... I still have about 1-1/2 years left on the original 4 year extended warranty.

The treadmill is nice and wide, with a long 60 inch running walking surface. I have put over 10,000 kilometers on it in the past year and have completed 4 marathons on it. The only problem I had was that the incline settings were not set up correctly but one call to the service center and someone came to my house and corrected the problem.. Running on and on and on with great joy and satisfaction. Not like Nike's "Just do it" I am like New Balance, "Just did it"

by: Hogenmogen

Actually, the math is that 10,000km is around 6200 miles, which is almost 17 miles per day EVERY DAY. If the poster missed his decimal point, and meant to say 1000km/yr, that's only 1.7mi/day and doesn't really qualify as a heavy user. I'm suspecting there's some BS involved here.

10,ooo kilometers is approximately 5,000 miles in 365 day's. So you ran 13.70 miles a day and your machine did not have proplems?HUMmmmm.I wonder.
