We just recieved our new treadmill from Wal-Mart for $378.00 plus shippping $50.00 I am not sure what the author of this review meant by poor quality? For crying out loud! What more could you expect for this price range. The assembly went flawless all the parts were there. The packing was done with great care. This treadmill is so quiet, smooth and very cool. The author also indicated that this machine does not fold for storing. Thats not the case with ours. Even the picture displayed in this review shows a latch to fold and lock it in place. If this entry level treadmill last as long as my first treadmill from Wards 14yrs. I will be one happy camper. I put over 8000 miles on that one and only had to replace the roller assembly twice. Both times it was replaced under the extended warranty. Not bad for a cheap treadmill around $450.00. So if your having doubts about keeping your extra bucks in your pocket don't, I believe this treadmill is a winner. Anyone out there that knows something about quality please let me know as soon as possible just exactly what is wrong with the quality of the Golds Gym 450 so I box it up and send it back.

Great Treadmill For the buck!
by: Anonymous

For under 400 bucks, the controls, incline and display works great! I think that how each box is handled during shipment at different store locations constitutes what kind of damage may be done. Apparently ours was handled with care, but can understand the negative reviews from others on this forum.

the transformer on the controller unit is held in place by 2 very small (#6) plastic screws. our treadmill broke after less than 2 months of walking on it 3 times a week. they sent us a controller unit that broke during shipping. then they sent us another one that again broke during shipping! the heads pop off these tiny plastic screws very easily. i am a former machine builder who now works for an engineering firm. the quality is VERY poor. no one in their right mind would try to use these small plastic screws under tension to hold something down in an environment with vibration and heat. the features of this teadmill are awesome, but they don't do you any good when it won't work!
