I have much experience in the treadmill world and after reading your comments either the TRUE models you tried we lemons or I have the golden treadmill!!
My TRUE 500 from 2002/2003 S.O.F.T system is theeeee best treadmill I have ever owned and its still going strong. I perfer running on it than on the life fitness and precor models at my gym.
No slip, great performance and I have had great service from my dealer. I service annually. If treadmill owners dont regualrly service their machines they are asking for issues.
I only wish I was getting paid for this comment, but , the truth stands.

I forgot in my original submission to thank you for all your work in these reviews they have been helpful.
