Refurbished Treadmills, What are they?

If you plan on buying a new treadmill but can’t afford the model
you want, then refurbished treadmills might be the answer you’re looking for.

What Are Refurbished / Remanufactured Treadmills?

Refurbished or remanufactured treadmills are used treadmills that were fixed up to factory specifications so it can be resold again. And since it is not a brand new unit, you’ll get to own your chosen treadmill model for just a fraction of the original retail price.

So are refurbished and remanufactured treadmills the same? The answer is no. Remanufactured treadmills are usually more worn out than refurbished ones so the dealer would need to replace some of its parts before it can be resold. A refurbished treadmill is generally in better condition with only a few years of usage so it doesn’t really need much reconstruction.

Should You Buy One?

If you can’t buy brand new fitness equipment because it is beyond your budget, then reconditioned treadmills are definitely worth considering. It allows you to save significant amount of money so you can buy the model you want. And, it is better than buying used treadmills since refurbished treadmills usually come in better condition and with a warranty.

Another thing to note here, don’t expect to find lots of low-priced or even mid-priced treadmills being refurbished. It is simply not worth the time and effort to fix up a treadmill that would only be sold for a few hundred dollars. So because of this, you might still need to spend around a thousand dollars to own a reconditioned treadmill.

Before you Buy

Before you buy a refurbished unit, always remember that you’re investigating this option because you’re trying to save money. So here are a few things to look at to be sure that you’ll get good value for your hard earned dollars.

Firstly, you would want to know how long the treadmill has been used. One way to know this(if the dealer doesn’t know or simply doesn’t want you to know) is to check when the model was first introduced by the original manufacturer. Visit the manufacturer’s website to find out or even email them to be sure. This would give you a good estimate on how long the machine has been around.

Secondly, know who is redoing the machine. Generally, buying a refurbished treadmill from the original manufacturer is your best option. Alternatively, there are also a few excellent treadmill re-manufacturers on the net today. Just be sure to check how long they’ve been in business before buying from them.

And finally and probably most important of all, know how long the warranty is. If you find refurbished treadmills without any warranty, stay away from them. The lack of warranty just proves that the unit won’t last very long. A good remanufactured treadmill warranty is around 90 days.

Conclusion…

To conclude, if you can’t afford the treadmill model that you want or if you simply want to save money, then why not buy refurbished treadmills? They offer significant savings and their quality and durability are usually better than those from used or second hand treadmills.
