For under 400 bucks, the controls, incline and display works great! I think that how each box is handled during shipment at different store locations constitutes what kind of damage may be done. Apparently ours was handled with care, but can understand the negative reviews from others on this forum.

the transformer on the controller unit is held in place by 2 very small (#6) plastic screws. our treadmill broke after less than 2 months of walking on it 3 times a week. they sent us a controller unit that broke during shipping. then they sent us another one that again broke during shipping! the heads pop off these tiny plastic screws very easily. i am a former machine builder who now works for an engineering firm. the quality is VERY poor. no one in their right mind would try to use these small plastic screws under tension to hold something down in an environment with vibration and heat. the features of this teadmill are awesome, but they don't do you any good when it won't work!
