Life Fitness ST55 Treadmill Review

Life Fitness ST55 Treadmill

The Life Fitness ST55 treadmill is another value model from Life Fitness. It is similar to the cheaper Life Fitness ST35 but with heart rate features.

Is This Your Best Buy Treadmill?

If you’re looking for an affordable Life Fitness treadmill that comes with heart rate features, then this is the unit for you. This machine is actually one of the two value (less than $1,500) models from this company.

However, if you are a serious runner, I wouldn’t recommend this model. I suggest you get a more expensive Life Fitness (one that can handle the pressure of intense workouts) or you might want to look at our best buy treadmills page for more choices.

What It Offers

As I’ve mentioned above, this model comes with heart rate features. It has a heart rate monitoring system which automatically adjusts speed and incline level to maintain target heart rate zone during the new interactive program. Add to this the fact that it still features the 5 standard and 3 goal-based workouts and you’ll get more variety and flexibility in your exercises.

However, just like the cheaper ST35, this machine also has a 2.0HP continuous duty motor that has a max speed of 10mph and a max incline of 10%. This motor is ideal for both beginners and intermediate runners but is not powerful enough for hardcore runners.

Other features include a 2 LCD windows and message center with racetrack profile which shows you information regarding your workout, a reading rack and a dual-pocket accessory tray to place your magazines and sports bottles, a folding feature so you can save space at home when this unit is not in use, 2 memory slots for custom workouts, and a pause and cool down feature to minimize injuries.

Weakness

Like most Life Fitness, this model’s biggest weakness that it is overpriced. When you’re buying a Life Fitness treadmill, expect it to cost more because you are paying for the brand name rather than the product.

Recommendation

Like its cheaper counterpart, I also wouldn’t recommend the Life Fitness ST55 treadmill because I believe that there are other treadmills in this price range that will give you way more value for your money. (May I suggest the Smooth 7.1HR treadmill)
